Focal Headphones

Are The $1,500 Focal Clear Headphones Worth The Buy For You?

Already just looking at these headphones like what it looks like your regular headphones, besides looking like it has an entire speaker on the outside of the phones. Everything else besides that is normal except the price. Normally you would assume these headphones should cost at least $100 – $200, but no, they cost $1,500. So it got me thinking what is it with these headphones that makes them so expensive? Is it the sound quality? is it the additional features? Is it the silver design?

These pair of headphones are called the Focal Clear and it isn’t the only headphones that cost this much but there are actually other products that make lead to an explanation of its price. Last summer another pair of headphones from Focal called Utopia costs $4000 and it obviously looks more advanced than the Clear appearance and specification wise. These headphones do originate from France, a country known for its beautiful and fancy objects and structures, the high-end reference speakers are amazing and put you in a heaven like an environment that cancels’s out any background noise but unfortunately not a lot of basses and the 20mm ear cushion it’s petty much a pillow for your ears. So far it seems as if these headphones could outway Beats headphones and Sennheiser headphones.

You must actually be careful with these headphones as they are very flexible with not much tension on them, so they can easily break if not handled properly. I once had a pair of headphones that did not have a lot of tension between them and I stretched them to see if they were durable and they eventually broke, so I wouldn’t do that in my opinion. But on the pros side because of this tension, it makes these headphones surprisingly comfortable to wear out of everyone’s luck.

Now it’s time to talk about the complicated specifications of these headphones. The three cables that come with it are a 6.35MM stereo jack connector, a 3.5MM jack plug, and a 4 pin balanced XLR, this is the same as the Focal Utopia which also has a 6.35MM stereo jack connector and a 3.5MM jack plug, so it’s basically if you mostly care about the portability of the device your most likely going to want to pick the Focal Clear as the price is cheaper to. Also within this, if you care about just having good enough headphones Focal Clear is also for you. In my opinion, it’s just a good money saver, but if you would like more advanced specifications specifically sound quality and advanced options you’re most likely going to want to get the Focal Utopia. Maybe for tasks like song recording or podcasts.

To conclude everything, in my personal opinion I wouldn’t really buy these headphones, but it’s not because the quality is low, it’s actually great but from everything we have seen it seems that this pair of headphones is mainly good for job use, but not personal use. For personal use, you would probably want to use the wireless headphones that Focal has that cost around $300 which would still be a lot if you live in the United States or even better the earbuds that cost literally a $1.00. In conclusion good for job use, but not recommended for personal use like listening to music in your free time. In conclusion, I would rate this device 4.7 / 5 stars.
