The new month is here, a new phone from one of the best phone companies LG has come out with their new LG G7 ThinQ. With its tall structure, thin design, but also took a bit of iPhone 10’s design. Although I do love this phones widescreen, the small camera notch at the top doesn’t really suit me anymore. It’s starting to get a little unoriginal now. By comparison, it makes me turn to the previous G6’s design where the bezels are just thin and not completely taken away
The LG G7 has a surprisingly advanced camera that knows if a shot doesn’t look too good to take a photo of. This is called an AI camera. What this AI camera does is that it automatically adjusts the filter, image stabilization, and the angle of the shot. I’ll mention more about the AI Camera soon.
LG must have noticed all these other smartphone companies have done modifications to their smartphones cameras and decided they wanted to do a modification to their phone’s camera. At the same time, LG makes a lot more than just phones so I wouldn’t expect the amount of time dedicated to engineering these two specific cameras, but it’s still pretty amazing how they managed to make this possible
Camera Sensors
Adding on to the camera, the final results of what LG made to these two cameras is quite amazing. LG G7 contains a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/1.6. With this, we know that this phone has some bad features but mostly good features. There are phones with better and worse specs than this LG G7 so it just brings to a conclusion that this phone’s camera would be considered average as also many other smartphones do have the same or at least similar primary sensors and aperture.
Mentioning more about the AI camera in an easy explanation on the example image on their website where they took a picture of a Boston terrier with an LG G7 the phone now automatically knows what it’s taking pictures of, so in this instance when LG took this picture it said keywords like Boston Terrier, Pet, Dog, Animal. I’ve always needed something like this and wish more phone companies can do things like this.
Storage And Processor Factors
Many people have even said that the LG G7 doesn’t have a lot of new factors to it and I do agree with this myself. LG G7 still has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is also the latest CPU from Snapdragon that many other fast smartphones I’ve reviewed in the past have, so we know that this phone definitely does have fast performance. LG G7 also still contains the average maximum 128 Gigabytes of storage, so if you mainly use your phone al the time this would be a good phone, but you can also buy similar phones with the same specs and wouldn’t make too much of a difference.
The display of this device is bigger than an iPhone X, so by my judgment, it shouldn’t be too big. Specifically, the device is 6.1 inches LCD aka also 3120×1440 making the LG G7 pretty light. But this is also mostly contributed to because of the thin design of the phone. The feel of carrying this phone is very comfortable. I do enjoy the modern round applications on the home screen of the phone. The three buttons on the bottom look great. I’m assuming that those three buttons on the bottom were highly influenced by the Google Pixel’s buttons on the bottom. FYI, this phone operates on the latest Android Oreo 8.0, so they didn’t do anything more to that.
Overall Thoughts
It seems that LG wouldn’t want to compete with the latest phones out in the market today. But to be honest I would probably mainly buy this phone because of the camera and the processor it has. But in conclusion, I would rate this device a 4.2 / 5 [kkstarratings]
