Surface Pro 6: not much has changed for the Surface Pro 6 in my opinion. It’s a situation of why you should buy the computer but also just skip it. If you’ve never had a surface computer before this is a maybe, but if you already have a lower generation Surface, 4th, or 5th, not so much.
The new Surface Pro 6 is coming out soon and I’m wondering what is up with this new Surface Pro 6. I’m not really a big fan of Surface Pro computers but Every time a new Surface computer is released you will probably notice at least one or two major difference from the previous computer but for the Surface Pro 6, I realized nothing has changed much at all. I’m not sure if this would be my number one computer since we are still using the i7 core processor since I’ve reviewed other underrated computers with the i9 core processor. Image by The Inquirer
Graphical Features
The graphics are also something I want to point out. As a windows laptop mainly portrayed for graphing and sketching you still get the same UHD 620 Graphics for both I5 and I7. But I presume it’s already an advantage just to choose either processor to have the benefits added to the other graphical features you may see when using the computer.
We know since these graphics don’t change it’s now a matter of how long the graphics will last. With most versions of i7 having a higher GHz performance than i5, you will obviously see a longer lasting performance for whatever activity you are doing on the device. Either one hopefully won’t make too much of an impact on your price out the checkout
I guess it’s not the idea of adding new features to the new computer but adding new features that improve the user experience of the already existing features from the last or possibly further previous generations. I figured out this pattern over time as I’ve seen the other specifications like the example in the previous section I mentioned. It’s a useful technique I can only assume that saves money and materials for the product.
Sizes Of Hardware And Software
From what we’ve observed there aren’t many technological advancements but there are many new physical enhancements. The size although not very significant is only a couple decimals smaller from the last generation Surface Pro. The dimensions are 11.5 x 7.9 x 0.33. If you stress a lot about the size you may have some concerns about buying this computer This is in comparison to the previous sizes which were 11.50 x 7.93 x 0.33 for the Surface Pro 5.
Since you only get two memory options which are 8GB or 16GB, I personally think Microsoft should have gone back to adding the 4GB’s option to there pricing like what they did with the Surface Pro 4. Although it’s not much for someone who would regularly use a Surface Pro, it’s still a good suggestion to have more flexible pricing options instead of just having two options. This probably won’t be too much of a problem since most people either choose one over the other.
This Surface Pro still goes from 128GB’s to 1TB, which the Surface Pro computers have always had but I at least like the more flexible amounts with pricing. If you’re using external services you can install on the device like Dropbox that can add more storage to the computer, it hopefully could help out this specific thing.
New Keyboard And Other Design Factors
The keyboard Microsoft designed for this looks more professional now since the keyboard now has more area to cover up the typing area instead of a smaller typing area. The thinner bezels are a slight improvement since it makes a slight illusion making the screen clearer at least in my opinion.
Judging by what else I could say the design has not really improved or changed much at all. But having a new design isn’t too necessary unless it can improve your visual and physical experience of the computer. The design of the Pro 6 doesn’t seem to have any additional effect in comparison to the previous Pro 5. It’s not as exciting visually, which may have an effect on how many people may want to buy this product.
Concluding Thoughts
If you already have a Surface Pro 5, or a computer with similar specifications to it, I wouldn’t recommend getting this computer, but if you’ve never had a Surface before this is a maybe. To me, from my research that has been done and what I’ve experienced this computer is half bad and half good. I overall give this computer an overall rating of 2.5 stars.[star rating=”2.5″]
