Huawei Mate 20 Pro: it seems like the Mate 20 Pro has taken some influence from the iPhone X’s, but is it still worth buying. Let’s see here
Happy Halloween everyone. Every time a new Huawei smartphone is released it is evolving an evolving into a monster with a new power every time at least technically. The phone still keeps the traditional Huawei design. Although, they have decided to widen the notch. It doesn’t make it look too different from the iPhone X phones. In fact, physically and a little bit technologically this phone had a lot of influence from Apple’s iPhone X series. Probably in the hope of getting some extra sales. You can’t complain too much about the wide notch since it is way better than the Mate 20’s notch since it’s just a dot.
Huawei seems like a phone company that I could trust since it’s lack of laziness and signs of improvement within their products. For the Razer Phone 2 and Surface Pro 6, I noticed remarkable amounts of not much improvement in my opinion. Even if it seems like much, it still surprises me. This makes the official price $1,400 just a tad higher priced than the average iPhone X. Image is credited to 9to5google
The Triple Lens Leica Camera
It would be crazy to assume that this phone manufacturer would add four lenses to the smartphone. Lets first look at the structure of the Triple lens Leica camera. There is a max of three unique lenses which each have there own unique angles and apertures. Mixed apertures are better since it makes the photos have a more diverse look to them. I can only guess is to be why it is one of the reasons why the three cameras exist on it. The around 4K quality on the phone at least within filming is a greater extension to add to this
Another major specification that could be noted for the purpose of the Leica camera are the three focusing modes on the camera. Laser, Phase and Contrast. The aperture quality doesn’t bother me too much at all. But I do like how more light is being shed on how a photograph is being focused on. Huawei gives you contrast mode which is better for taking physical comparison photos. The laser focus mode is similar to a regular autofocus except it being very clear and analytical. I can only assume what the phase focus does is divide the light in the image. But if you use these features more you will eventually figure out which feels better.
Something I want to talk about is the 3D Face login. I feel like not mentioning how similar the notch is and the entire concept of adding a 3D login to the phone seems like a copy from Apple’s iPhone X series.
Performance On The New Kirin 980 Processor
The last Huawei phone I reviewed which was the P20 Pro had the Kirin processor of 970. But they have taken a step further with their 980 Kirin processor. I gave the P20 Pro a rating similar to the Note 9 smartphone. Meaning the last Huawei smartphone I have thought is somewhat similar to Note 9 with a generally unique processor. The question I want to ask is what new improvements are there from Kirin 970 on an old model to a newer model using 980?
Huawei started using the Kirin 980 processor since they have released their Mate series phones. If you have used an older generation Huawei smartphone like the P20 Pro that has the Kirin 970 you will see more advanced results using the 980 processor on the Mate 20 Pro.
Remarkable efficiency and other similar concepts seem like something that some or to many people like to bandwagon on. The energy efficiency has increased by almost half from the P20 Pro. Not like most people I look more in the time quantity in performance more than the rank of processor performance now. This is because I realized time quantity has been a rising issue for phones I’ve seen. The thing for this smartphone that astonishes me is how you can have a phone that evenly balances time quantity or the processor and the processor quality.
It’s almost in a way where the 8 cores that are with the processor have their own cycling system in a way. Two large, two super and four efficiency cores all rely upon of a scheduling system. This allows the CPU do adapt to any low power scenario by changing the power consumption. I like this a lot better since it can now actually really detect power usage. Unlike just letting it go over time resulting in a faster phone over time.
Final Thoughts
It looks like Huawei may have taken some influence from Apple for this smartphone. If you’ve used the P20 smartphone in the past you can see a huge increase in user experience for it. I guess it’s just a matter of if you take one of the iPhone X phones but mix it with a foreign android smartphone this is what you will receive. Overall I would give this phone a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars [star rating=”4.5″]
