iPad Pro 2018 Review: The Apple Version Of The Surface Pro

iPad Pro

The iPad Pro is an iPad that revolutionized the entire Apple series at least in my opinion. It is like the Surface Pro except it is for Apple. Within the new A12x chip it is a pretty big comparison when compared to previous generation bionic chips from Apple.

iPad Pro

iPads have become so advanced now most people would actually want to compare them to other Apple computers. This is Apple’s version of the Microsoft Surface Pro. I wouldn’t say it’s just as good as a Surface Pro laptop but it is something unique to have. If you were ever thinking of buying a MacBook or possibly an iPad, any iPad for yourself or others I would buy this if the suggestion was not logical enough. Image by Apple Insider

I like the traditional look influenced by the Surface Pro but I wouldn’t necessarily use this tablet-computer in the same sense that I would use a Surface Pro computer. Regardless if you are using the 11-inch or 12.9-inch iPad Pro both will come with the Apple A12x Bionic chip processor. It’s pretty cool to acknowledge since the regular Macbook and the average iPad you may have used the regular A12 bionic processor. It’s a cool plus to add on to this.

The TrueDepth Camera

It is not just the TrueDepth camera but it is the entire camera which I feel like Apple put a bit too much effort into at least in my opinion. This is the first type of computer tablet I’ve seen that seems good enough to be a regular camera. Not so much with a Surface Pro computer but those computers are good for the most part.

The TrueDepth camera gives out a pretty great amount of frames per second which can go as low as 30 fPS to a max of 60 FPS for 1080p quality. The FPS amounts per pixels are a just a tad less expandable since on other iPhones you may have 24 FPS per pixels but for the iPad Pro it is just 30 – 60 FPS, and for 720p it is the same 30 FPS pixels. Even Apple devices released a long time ago like the iPhone 8 even have that 24 FPS option. It’s not really something series to mention but still good for stop motion video frequency.

Something within a similar concept applies for the slow motion FPS. At 120FPS, 720p, and 240FPS it has the same traditional settings but the other specifications within the tablet can alter the performance of this in a good way.

Portrait mode and light is another big thing I would like to mention. It makes the conclusion easier how similar the entire camera is to the iPhone X Series camera. So it’s with a mix of those apertures and the portrait mode it makes the stock image-like wide and clear photo. Portrait lighting does exist on the tablet but it doesn’t give you the lighting options, unlike other Apple products which provide you with those options.

User Experience With The A12x Bionic Processor

I’ll now talk more about the A12x Bionic Chip Processor. I want to mention this one because it is the first processor I have seen that acquires a sidekick processor, the M12 coprocessor. This is a new processor that Apple released the day before Halloween and the iPad Pro is the first device to be the Chip’s first device subject.

It has been estimated that the A12x is a bit bigger than a quarter faster than the A10x and almost half as fast as the A11x chip. The A12x has nearly twice as many cores than the Intel I7 processor that which we saw with the Intel I7 core processor for the Surface Pro 6 which was reviewed. Because we know this information I want to know like I always ask, how long will the device be smooth for with the new outcasting core processor?

In a basic way, the average Intel processor transistors are around 500 to 1 billion. For the A12x it is 10 billion which should last at least a month or two months worth of the smooth, fast user experience on the tablet compared to on average at least on my current smartphone the fast quality lasted me only two weeks and it was gone. But it is something huge too take advantage of for this specification

User Experience With The Physical Display

The user interface is one of the main keys to why someone may want to buy a tech product in general. This is where I want to talk more about the 11 inch iPad Pro and the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. The almost to exactly 13 inch iPad Pro is huge. The iPad is almost as big as a Dell laptop, the Inspiron 3000 I had which was the same size as this computer. I didn’t like the physical user experience since the hinges wore down over time to make it a loose wobbly computer screen.

But since the iPad Pro, both sizes have a thicker display than a Dell Inspiron 3000 computer, this issue won’t be too relevant. I wouldn’t necessarily be someone who takes pictures with a 13-inch tablet, but this is what Apple intended, but photo editing would be pretty fun than on it, and easier.

The brightness can go up to 600 nits which are over 100 more than this year 2018 iPad and 60 nits less than the iPhone XS so it’s evenly divided out. I’m not sure why Apple would change the number of brightness nits yet not changing some of the major specs that could be changed. Reading something fullscreen on a 13 inch iPad is already good enough I wouldn’t wanna adjust the brightness to be high or anything like that.

In Conclusion

I am overall a fan of the 2018 iPad Pro. It is probably the best iPad I have seen. I usually don’t expect much from an iPad but this is pretty good. The iPad is a Surface Pro except it is from Apple which makes it pretty cool. I would give this iPad 4 and a half stars[star rating=”4.7″]
