Google Pixel Slate: I feel like Google made a very lazy tablet. It is mainly a Chromebook turned into a tablet. Some of what you see for an average tablet and average Chromebook are still here for our new Google Pixel Slate.
From what I have seen for any tablet that is released from Google, I have a feeling they have a difficult understanding of what makes a good enough tablet. The latest Pixel phones are better and at least a bit unique. But I feel like they just turned a Chromebook into a tablet a little bit and added only a bit of the uniqueness magic within the tablet. I would prefer the iPad Pro over this tablet since the iPad Pro has a very defiant sense of uniqueness. I will try my best to be as basic as possible with my reviews since I feel like my reviews are a bit too in-depth sometimes and maybe a bit difficult to understand to some people. Image by Mashable
I would definitely say this tablet is a cross between an iPad and a Chromebook. I wouldn’t say this tablet is the best marketing strategy for Google since the highest price for this tablet, in general, is $1,600 which obviously is not worth it. This is due to what we have seen for almost every relevant Apple product today. A similar concept arises for the lowest version of the tablet, which contains the Intel Celeron Processor. Which in this scenario is currently $600 which is only a little bit less worth compared to the XR by Apple which is $700 lowest out of the X series phones.
Operating System
The biggest giveaway that sparks concern for this device is the Chrome OS operating system. I feel Google felt a bit lazy when making this device. Chrome OS is the cheapest option may have been the easiest option for the company. I would have a tad more respect for this tablet if Android were used. Going deeper why couldn’t the company use the latest Oreo update which was released on November 30, 2018? On the contrary to the main opinionated focus, what are some positives we may find about this tablet?
Hardware related attire is fairly average knowing that the Pixel Slate’s processor can range from an Intel m3 to an i7 processor. It gives a fair pricing selection from either good to somewhat advanced. Since we are looking at a regular computer tablet I wouldn’t expect i8 or i9 to be put onto here. The Pixel Slate also has an Intel Celeron processor which isn’t too useful since most people would like relevant technology
User Experience
The tablet is a device from Google will most likely only do well on Google related products like Google Docs, or Google Sheets since it is specifically built for Google products stating the obvious. Or at least the user experience within the products are great. If you have used or are using a Google Pixelbook you may have an easier experience within using the tablet. This is because the tablet does include Google Pixelbook pen support.
Since one of the computers I currently own is a Chromebook. If you currently have a Chromebook one of the latest big updates has been added to the device so that the shelf sort of looks like a Macbook taskbar. I feel like the update was only necessary since when using the Google Pixel Slate it feels right. It is not just like a computer screen projected on a tablet. Because of this I may have to admit it makes the screen look like a tablet screen a lot.
Conclusion
Anything else I think this is a very lazy crafted tablet. It’s just another easily crafted produced by Google. I would have to agree with the majority opinion for the tablet in general. For competition within the iPad Pro and the Google Pixel Slate the iPad Pro would definitely win. The tablets reality is very odd knowing what you would get if you were to order a Google Pixel Phone like the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL. I would give this tablet 3 out of 5 stars.[star rating=”3″]
