Last weeks infinity war came out and most people thought it was a great movie. A question that sparked when I saw a movie snippet was about the type of IMax camera they were using. Most people who saw infinity war wouldn’t care what IMax camera was used to film this movie. Because it’s an irrelevant topic. I noticed the graphics were pretty amazing so some research was done from me and I found out they used an IMax ARRI 2D camera. This camera was released around 3 years ago, which is amazing how the camera still meets amazing quality expectations in 2018. I would assume they would use a different IMax. Well, what would you expect from a professional IMax camera? This is why I wanted to do more research on this topic
This is not the first time that people have used IMax ARRI 2D cameras to film movies. Captain America: Civil War was the first to use this camera for its movie. With this in mind obviously, if you saw Civil War that’s why you didn’t notice too much of a difference in quality with infinity war.
IMax Camera Quality
In case you did not know this IMax camera is a 4k stereo camera. This takes me by surprise because most would never expect an IMax camera to have 4k. Usually, I would assume the quality to be at least 6k if I’m not overestimating the quality. But even when it’s still 4k many have said that this IMax camera is still the worlds most advanced quality camera in the world. The logic sort of gets put into confusion. For 4k quality within this camera, it’s a pretty good explanation why you can get crystal clear shots. But there are also other technical specifications that make the film outcome turn out to be great and not just the quality.
When creating Infinity War marvel decided they wanted to close the final chapter by filming it with a high-quality movie camera. This is why Marvel chose the ARRI 2D camera which was previously used to film Civil War. But those are just two factors why this was one of marvels decisions to make. There are most likely a lot more. It seems like a good reason to choose this camera. Joe and Anthony Russo stated a quote relating to this while making the film. (Consequence Of Sound Paragraph Two.)

In conclusion, there isn’t too much information that is available. Just on the surface of this IMax camera. But in conclusion, we know that the IMax ARRI 2D camera and other cameras like it do have tons of quality factors that lead to amazing shots and or regular filming scenes. But overall, we know that this camera is very powerful and must be handled responsibly. I hope my ideas make sense. By judgment for the power of this specific IMax camera, I can only assume that this IMax ARRI 2D camera will be used to film the next couple Marvel movies.
